Our WorthPoint Price Guide updates daily, with thousands of new items streaming in from our Industry Partners. I like to single out a few of my favorites to share with our followers. There’s usually a good story behind so many of these pieces, and sharing my passion for antique and vintage items is the best part of my job. Let me tell you about an interesting item that one of our partners recently auctioned.

I often discuss antique items, vintage pieces, or collectibles, such as coins and sports cards. This week, I noticed something that we don’t usually cover in our Price Guide—further proof that you can find just about anything in our databases. A 2014 Caterpillar 924K Front End Loader went under the hammer at our Industry Partner by Mountain Valley Auction. Heavy equipment might not be everyone’s idea of a collectible, but these auctions keep some older pieces of equipment in use, rather than letting them rot away in junkyards.

This front-end loader is the real deal, not a toy or a model, and it sold for a solid price.

The recent auction by this partner on October 16, 2025, was a success, bringing in a total of $1,432,413.40. The front loader was the top seller of the auction, selling for $83,600. It’s not a sale that the average antiques enthusiast would typically bid on, but it was a high-quality piece of equipment at a reasonable price.

Another interesting item was an off-road dump truck. Little kids dream of these life-sized machines. It was a 2002 Volvo A30D, which sold for $82,225. The previous owners kept it well-maintained, and this sale was an auction that offered useful construction equipment rather than models or toys that sit on a shelf.

This off-road dump truck is a piece of equipment that can help build anything from a new highway to a new neighborhood.

Our partner, Mountain Valley Auction, is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. They have upcoming auctions for several houses in the vicinity, and I can vouch for the area’s beauty. I was lucky enough to grow up there. Canoeing near Harper’s Ferry and swimming under the stars in any of the beautiful lakes are cherished memories for me, so check it out if you’re interested in living in a lovely part of the country.
