Finds and Interests
When I first created WorthPoint, my goal was to give collectors, sellers, and anyone
who likes vintage and antique items a place to learn about their treasures. Initially, we
partnered with just a few auction houses and selling platforms, but we’ve expanded
our collaborations and have over 300 industry partners. From those relationships, we
have built a database of more than 840 million items in our Price Guide that includes
how much the item sold for and on which platform so collectors can find the values
of the item they own.
We have a Marks database to help identify items, a virtual Vault for subscribers to
catalog and record information on what they own, and a vast Library of books and
guides. It’s been challenging at times, with lots of ups and downs, but my goal was
always to offer a way to connect collectors worldwide and form a community that
includes experts, sellers, buyers, pickers, and fans of all things vintage.
It takes a crack team of software developers, marketing professionals, sales staff, and
content creators, and we wouldn’t be where we are without our people. Recently, our
Chief Technology Officer, Antoine Lyseight, took some time to explain the recent
technological advancements on our site and what we will be implementing going
forward. He’s been with us since 2012, helping in IT, software, product research, and
so much more.
Antoine has helped WorthPoint become a leader in the industry, and his knowledge of
integrating our data with comprehensive technological tools is a significant asset to
the company. He talked about what’s happening at WorthPoint recently, saying, “We’re
about to add a new option to our subscription offerings. Two of our most popular
options are the WorthPoint Price Guide and our Marks database, so we’ve created a
subscription option that includes these two features in one package. It also includes
full access to our virtual Vault, a way for collectors to document their treasures
securely.”
I’ve experienced a major national disaster and lost many of the antique and vintage
items in my home. This loss was a big part of why we wanted to create the Vault:
users would have a secure option to preserve the records and other details about their
items if the worst happens. It also helps at tax time if an item is sold or donated; the
information is in place and easily accessible.
We’ve also tried to leverage our data alongside our social media presence. Antoine and
his team have taken the lead in finding the good parts of social media—the
communities of collectors sharing so much information—and making WorthPoint a
way for buyers, sellers, and fans to come together.

and how our users and partners have helped us reach our goals and will keep us
moving forward in our mission to preserve our past.
